Summer time does not cause one to worry much about heating, but as long as you are used to your hot showers with no other alternatives, you might be in for some trouble if your central heating system malfunctions when winter arrives. A sealed central heating system system can cater to several family members having a hot wash or bath at the same time since it utilises a storage tank housed in a cupboard or loft, thus ensuring a steady supply of pressured hot water. The system central heating boiler needs not much space and it is quick and easy to install. The drawback with this central heating system is that you cannot get hot water instantly as there is a storage tank which gets empty from time to time if a lot of hot water is used quickly.
However the central heating system which is most commonly used in older homes is the open vent gas boiler, it occupies huge space and consists of a storage cylinder and two water tanks. This heating boiler too doesn’t give hot water instantly like the sealed system though once again it allows several taps and shower to work at the same time, water pressure is also not to good here.
Finally, a back central heating boiler can allow multiple outlets of hot water at the same time, without loss of pressure; but they can take up a lot of space. The space inside a chimney breast is often used to accommodate a back heating boiler; but installing a new back boiler system to replace another type of gas boiler is not cost effective. But if your house already had a back heating boiler when you bought it, you can gain a lot of savings by replacing it with the same type; if it requires replacement, it’s much more cost effective to get a new back boiler than getting a totally different heating boiler system.
No matter what type of gas boiler you have, it’s maintenance costs can be high if it has problems. Setting aside a marginal amount each month for a central heating system insurance can ensure speedy and professional repairs if a sudden breakdown should occur. And you could save yourself even more if you take out a gas boiler breakdown policy that also includes yearly central heating system inspections, giving you peace of mind that it is operating both safely and efficiently.
